Best Time to Visit:

Huangshan Scenic Area – Must-See Highlights
Experiencing the mountains, sunrise, and sea of clouds is unforgettable. Many travelers stay overnight in mountain hotels like Baiyun Hotel or Guangmingding Hotel to catch the sunrise.
1. Welcoming Pine (Yingke Song)

The iconic symbol of Huangshan, located in the Yupinglou area. Many visitors come here just to snap a photo with this legendary tree.
2. Bright Summit Peak (Guangmingding)
The second highest peak in Huangshan, offering panoramic views and one of the best spots to watch the sunrise, sunset, and cloud formations. On clear days, the peaks stretch endlessly, shrouded in ethereal mist.
3. West Sea Grand Canyon ⛰️
Often called the “essence of Huangshan,” this area boasts rugged cliffs and narrow paths along steep slopes. A must-visit for those with good stamina.
4. Lotus Peak / Tiandu Peak ��
Lotus Peak is the highest point at 1,864 meters, while Tiandu Peak is famed for its steep cliffs. Tiandu Peak occasionally closes for safety, so prepare for a challenging climb.
5. Huangshan Hot Springs
Located at the mountain base, these springs are perfect for relaxing before or after a hike. Legend says they have been used for “spiritual cleansing” since ancient times.
Hongcun & Xidi – Ancient Village Tours
Just about an hour from Huangshan Scenic Area, these villages are UNESCO World Heritage sites and a must for exploring traditional Hui culture.
1. Hongcun
Known for its water-system layout, the village resembles a living painting. It served as a filming location for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The white walls, black tiles, and stone bridges create endless photo opportunities, especially at sunset on Nanhu Lake.
2. Xidi Ancient Village
Slightly more rustic than Hongcun, Xidi preserves numerous Ming and Qing-era buildings, including archways, ancestral halls, and intricate wood and stone carvings—perfect for a leisurely cultural stroll.
Tunxi Old Street – Food, Shopping & Culture

Located in Huangshan city, Tunxi Old Street retains its Ming and Qing charm and has been called “China’s Qingming Scroll in real life.” Here, you can:
Taste authentic Hui cuisine like stinky mandarin fish, Mao tofu, bamboo shoot braised pork, and Dao-ban-xiang.

Huangshan Maofeng Tea, one of China’s top ten teas, is also available for tasting directly in tea plantations.
Ancient Huizhou Cultural Area
Location: Yanchi Town, Huizhou District (~15 minutes from Tunxi)

Explore nearly a thousand years of Huizhou history through well-preserved Ming and Qing architecture. Key sites include:
1. Huizhou Ancient City: Historic city walls, gates, drum towers, and government offices.
2. Xuguo Stone Archway: Ming-era arch considered the crown of Hui-style archways.
3. Huizhou Government Office: Predates the Forbidden City by over a century, with original administrative layout.

Qiyun Mountain
Location: Xiuning County (~33 km from Huangshan)

Known as Huangshan’s sister mountain, Qiyun is a famous Taoist site with the legend of a lotus supported by clouds. Hiking is moderate, with cable cars available. The summit offers sweeping views of Xin’an River, sunrise, and the sea of clouds—a perfect complement to Huangshan.
Taiping Lake
Location: Huangshan District (~25 km from Huangshan Scenic Area)

Taiping Lake, Anhui’s largest man-made lake, is nicknamed the “Heavenly Pool of Huangshan.” Activities include:
